Narelle Carter-Quinlan


Narelle Carter-Quinlan has a diverse and unique background. She is dedicated practitioner in Iyengar Yoga, having Teacher Trained and apprenticed with Alan Goode from 1993-2009, a biomedical scientist, an ex-professional dancer and choreographer, and more recently, a writer and photographer.

From 2007 to 2009, Narelle presented her preliminary scholarly research on yoga and scoliosis at the International Dance Medicine and Science Conference in Canberra, the Australian Osteopathic (AOA) Convocation in Christchurch, the World Dance Alliance Global Summit in Brisbane, and was accepted to present at the World Congress for Low Back Pain in Barcelona. Her previous postgraduate research (2001-2002) centred around lumbopelvic stabilisation training and the neurophysiology of postural control in elite dancers.

During 2010, Narelle presented workshops and her research on yoga for scoliosis in London and Europe, and presented her “Rationale of Yoga Practice in Scoliosis as a Case Study” at the World Congress for Low Back and Pelvic Pain in Los Angeles.

From 2001-2007 Narelle served as Senior Tutor in Anatomy, Histology and Physiology, and tutored in Functional Anatomy and Pathophysiology at Queensland University of Technology. She has lectured at The Australian College of Natural Medicine for two years in Systemic and in Musculoskeletal Anatomy, and has authored and taught the Anatomy and Physiology components within several yoga teacher trainings.

She originally graduated from UTS with her University medal in Clinical Biochemistry, majoring in Cellular Pathology.

Narelle is based in Brisbane, Australia and is the Director and Owner of Yoga.BodyTorque.
